Prevent the spread of infection using a hand disinfectant

Problem
Infections are spread mostly via the hands. It almost goes without saying that it is particularly important for people who work in healthcare, in preschools or with food, for example, to keep their hands clean.

Hand disinfection with alcohol is very effective against all types of microorganisms. If you do it correctly, using the right technique and on dry hands, it is ten times more effective against bacteria than washing with soap and water is. Hand disinfection is often slapdash due to lack of time, and the result is worse than washing your hands in the ordinary way.

The solution
If you have to wash frequently and your hands are not visibly soiled, hand disinfection is kinder because water dries out the skin.

We have different products for different needs. Whether you work in a preschool or as a surgeon, there is a hand disinfectant to suit you. This is what you do if you have visible soiling, when handling food or in cases of infectious diseases:

  1. Wash your hands and wrists using soap and water.
  2. Dry them completely with a paper hand towel.
  3. Massage disinfectant scrupulously and liberally into your hands, including the backs of your hands and between your fingers. Do not forget your wrists, thumbs, nails, cuticles and forearms (see illustration).
  4. Finally, let your hands dry in the air.

If you do not have visible soiling: Follow items 3 and 4 above.
